"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work." (ESV)
"And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause." (GNT)
I am not able. I am not good enough. I am not worthy. These are the thoughts that are placed in your head by the devil when an opportunity is presented to you or when God opens a door to you. I hear these phrases all of the time. They come from so many different sources. I know that my own head is the greatest of all these sources; however, they also come from external outlets such as media, people, and society as a while. When I feel unable or not good enough, I began doubting everything about myself and my situation."And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work." (NKJV)
God sees this spiral down the rabbit hole as we all begin to doubt and questions and drive ourselves crazy. That is why He reassures us with this verse. Paul writes to the Corinthians to assure them that when they have these same feelings and begin their own spiral, that God is able and will provide.
The Good News Translation is a wonderful example of God's graciousness. I love the way that the translation begins with "God is able to give you more than you need". This is a wonderful reassurance that we can ask God for whatever it is that we may need because He has infinitely greater than we will ever need. We should not be embarrassed or nervous about asking God for the things that we need. God is a never ending pool of love, support, and care.
